It is said that he never left Daraza, the village of his birth. Sachal Sarmast married with daughter of His Uncle and Master, but the young woman died two years later. Sachal's father had died, when he was a child, he was later raised by his uncle and His Master (Hadi, Murshid) Abdul Haqq. Sachal Sarmast literally means 'truthful mystic' or can be translated as "Ecstatic Saint of Truth". Sachu which means 'truthful' - while in Sindhi Sarmast means 'ecstatic' in Sindhi and Urdu alike. His real name Abdul Wahab Farouqi and His famous nicks"Sachal" (True Person) or "Sachoo" (Truth Speaker) "Sachey Dino" (Given by Absolute Truth) and in Persian his nickname he used frequently in Persian poetry "Ashkara" (Opened - Clear - Visible). He was born in Daraza, near Ranipur, Sindh.
